Chicago Spring Break Trip

We took a wonderful trip to Chicago for Spring Break. This was our second Spring Break in Chicago so we had a better idea of what we were getting into. This year we stayed downtown and we also planned ahead and stopped at the Jelly Belly factory on the way. Lauren talked about our trip to the Jelly Belly factory for weeks before we went and she loved it. We picked up a couple of bags of "Belly Flops" for the rest of the trips. Belly Flops are the Jelly Belly rejects that don't pass inspection.

We also found a great cheese factory along the way that reminded us of Grandpa so we had to stop and get a picture. We now have a small cow at our house that the kids have named Bobby Nelson.

Once in Chicago we spent about half of the time swimming in the hotel pool-one of the favorite and most requested activities of the trip. One of these years we just need to find a cheap hotel in the middle of no where and let the kids swim for days on end. They will probably call it one of the best vacations ever.

Our traditional first matter of business once in Chicago (tradition because we've done it twice now) is to visit the American Girl Doll Store. The kids had been saving for months to get an outfit, shoes or some other over priced item from the AG Store. What marketing genius this company must have to mesmerize little girls in to saving every little penny of allowance and extra job money to spend on doll close. The girls loved it and we had a lot of fun watching them too.

We also had a great time visiting the Chicago Science and Technology building, bowling at the ESPN Zone, and eating some great food in Chicago. The only thing that could have been better is the weather. We were looking for Cancun weather but we sure didn't want Minnesota weather and that's what we got. Ah, were hearty and we had a great time anyway!
